In a move to strengthen corporate-social synergy and promote youth-focused digital empowerment, Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company, Globacom Nigeria Limited, has paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, led by its Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday at the agency’s headquarters in Ibadan, was spearheaded by Mr. Adewale Adiatu, Regional Manager of Globacom’s Enterprise Business Unit, and featured robust discussions around enterprise support, digital inclusion, and strategic collaboration to empower youths across Oyo State.

In a statement released by the agency’s Head of Media Unit, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, the visit marks a significant step toward formalizing a public-private partnership model designed to leverage technology for socio-economic development in the state.
Globacom Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment

During the high-level meeting with Hon. Falana and the Coordinating Director of the Agency, Mr. Sangogade Olusumbo Idowu, Mr. Adiatu emphasized Globacom’s strategic focus on digital literacy and enterprise enablement, particularly for Nigerian youths.
“Globacom recognizes the critical role of young people in driving innovation and economic growth,” said Adiatu. “Our Enterprise Business Unit is keen to partner with institutions like the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development to co-create programmes that equip youths with the tools they need to thrive in the digital economy.”
He also commended the agency’s progressive efforts in youth development, noting that Oyo State continues to raise the bar in innovation, entrepreneurship, and governance.

Responding to the initiative, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, Chairman of the Agency, expressed appreciation to Globacom for its proactive outreach and described the proposed partnership as timely and impactful.
“We are excited about the possibilities this partnership holds. Globacom’s presence and investment in Oyo State—particularly in the digital and enterprise space—will significantly amplify our efforts in youth empowerment, job creation, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship,” Hon. Falana said.
He further highlighted the achievements of His Excellency, Governor ’Seyi Makinde, whose six-year administration has championed numerous youth-friendly policies and transformative development programmes.
“We’ve never had it this good. Under Governor Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State has seen tangible progress across all sectors, including youth development. The recent launch of the Oyo State Sub-national African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation Strategy—a first of its kind in the federation—speaks volumes about our readiness to connect our youths to global opportunities.”

Discussions at the meeting covered several proposed initiatives, including:
- Digital skills training and certification for youths
- Enterprise connectivity solutions for young entrepreneurs and SMEs
- Deployment of Globacom’s technology platforms to support youth development programmes
- Support for e-learning, tech incubation hubs, and youth innovation centers
The Globacom delegation was also taken on a tour of the agency’s facilities, as both parties expressed a shared commitment to formalizing a partnership framework in the coming weeks.
