Oyo Youth Development Agency Visits Whoopy Yun College, Falana Explores Skills Partnership

In a bid to expand opportunities for youth empowerment in Oyo State, the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development has commenced exploratory talks with Whoopy Yun College—also known as The Creative College—to establish a strategic partnership focused on technical and vocational skills development.

Led by the Agency’s Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, the delegation visited the institution, owned by Mrs. Omobolanle Afolashade Adedeji, to assess its training facilities, curriculum, and infrastructure as part of ongoing efforts to align with the state’s youth development goals.

Accompanying the Chairman were key officials including Mr. Sangogade Olusumbo Idowu (Coordinating Director), Mr. Osungbaro Oluwaseye (Director of Administration and General Services), and Mr. Oladoja Olayiwola Muyiwa (Head of Youth Mobilization and Voluntary Organizations).
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Falana reiterated the Oyo State Government’s unwavering commitment—under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde—to equipping the youth with relevant, market-oriented skills that drive employability and entrepreneurship.

“We are here to ensure that any vocational institution we collaborate with has the vision, capacity, and quality to deliver real value. Whoopy Yun College has demonstrated strong potential in these areas, particularly as we implement the Oyo State Sub-national AfCFTA Strategy,” he said.
Mrs. Adedeji, the CEO of Whoopy Yun College, warmly received the team and presented a detailed overview of the college’s impact-driven curriculum, facilities, and contributions to youth capacity building over the years. She emphasized the institution’s mission to provide practical, transformative education aligned with current industry demands.
“Our goal is to empower young people with the tools to shape meaningful futures. This aligns directly with the state’s broader vision for youth development,” she stated.
During the tour, the delegation visited several key departments, including the fashion design unit, photography studio, digital design classroom, sales display area, and the industrial sewing lab. These showcased the college’s hands-on learning model and existing partnerships with local industries.
The visit marks the beginning of discussions toward a potential Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the agency and the college. If formalized, the collaboration will cover areas such as:
- Vocational and technical training
- Digital skills development
- Entrepreneurship programs
- Internship placements for youth across the state
Further meetings are expected in the coming weeks to finalize the partnership framework and implementation strategy.
This initiative aligns with the state’s broader mission to build a generation of confident, skilled, and economically empowered youth capable of thriving within and beyond Nigeria’s borders.
