PDP Oluyole Unites Under Alhaji Oladapo Moruf as Consensus Chairman.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government has unanimously endorsed Alhaji Oladapo Morufu as its consensus chairman ahead of the forthcoming party congress.

His emergence came after extensive consultations among key stakeholders and party leaders across the local government. The move, party sources say, reflects a renewed commitment to internal harmony and progressive leadership.

Announcing the decision, the outgoing chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, declared:

“By the power conferred on me by the Constitution of our great party, and as the outgoing chairman of PDP in Oluyole, I hereby announce Alhaji Oladapo Morufu as the new chairman of our party.”

Alhaji Morufu, in his acceptance remarks, thanked party members for the trust reposed in him and pledged to lead with integrity, discipline, and a grassroots-focused agenda.

“I deeply appreciate this gesture of trust and unity. My commitment is to serve selflessly, promote peace, and build on the legacies of our past leaders to ensure PDP remains a formidable force in Oluyole,” he stated.

Alhaji Morufu’s emergence was further strengthened by the voluntary withdrawal of five other chairmanship aspirants, Taofeeq Ogunrinde, Ramoni Jamoje, Sunday Ogunsade, Hon. Nurudeen Adesola, and Alhaji Oladapo Hamzat, who stepped down following wider consultations with stakeholders.

Each of the former aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP and expressed commitment to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, vowing to support the new chairman in building a stronger party structure.

Outgoing chairman Alhaji Adegbola praised their decision, describing it as a “sacrifice for unity and progress.”

“Their willingness to step aside for the greater good speaks volumes about their dedication to the party’s future,” he added.

During the congress, which was attended by the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, and other party stalwarts, the PDP also adopted a rotational leadership arrangement as directed by the state party hierarchy.

  • Party members who have served eight years in the same position were either reassigned to new strategic roles or respectfully stepped aside for others.
  • Those with less than eight years of service were retained or moved to higher offices.

This structure, party leaders said, ensures fairness, continuity, and wider representation across all party factions.

A new executive council for the Oluyole PDP was officially unveiled during the congress. The list, which cuts across all factions, was the product of a broad-based consensus and is widely regarded as legitimate and inclusive.

In a further show of unity, a document listing all local government and party leaders who endorsed the consensus arrangement was also presented to the congress attendees.

Party leaders described the outcome as a landmark step toward consolidating PDP’s strength in Oluyole and preparing the ground for future electoral victories.
