Chaos In Oyo APC Primaries For Ibadan North House Of Reps – Aspirants Reject Outcome Amid Allegations of Hijacking and Violence

There’s been an intense chaos that is unfolding at the All Progress Congress (APC) primaries in Oyo State for the upcoming Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives by-election. APC members make a rejection of the primary outcome by nine aspirants, the alleged attack on ex-chairman Idris Lapade, and accusations of process hijacking against influential party members.

Many members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Oyo state chapter are embroiled and in a turmoil at the outcome of the primary election held, stating that the whole process is not true and fair, but all full of manipulation as the aftermath of the primary saw nine out of ten aspirants expressing discontent with the results, citing various issues of flawed processes of undemocratic practices and compromise with a major allegations of hijacking by vested interests.

The primary, met with violence, and heated confrontations, took a dark turn as former chairman Idris Lapade was reportedly assaulted, leading to chaos at the venue. Witnesses described scenes of turmoil and discontent, raising concerns about the party’s ability tis o manage internal processes effectively.

Accusations have been leveled against Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, with aspirants claiming that his influence led to the manipulation of the election in favor of a particular candidate. This crisis reflects deeper fissures within the Oyo State APC, further exacerbated by factionalism and power struggles among party stalwarts.

The aggrieved aspirants have vowed to challenge the outcome through petitioning the national party leadership, underscoring their refusal to accept what they deem a fraudulent result. As the party grapples with internal rifts and trust issues, the looming by-election on August 16, 2025, poses a critical test for the APC’s electoral prospects in the state.

Efforts to resolve the impasse and restore stability within the party are underway, with security tightened in the Ibadan North constituency to prevent further unrest. The fate of the disputed primary remains uncertain, raising the possibility of a rerun or the selection of a consensus candidate by the National Working Committee to address the deadlock.
